Car Window Tinting South PerthCeramic Film for Fine Interiors
In South Perth, mobile car window tinting with Protec Glass Tinting costs $249 to $550, depending on your vehicle size and the film you choose. Removing old tint is generally $50 to $150 extra. We come to your home or workplace, including apartment garages, with no call-out fee.
Quick answer: for most South Perth drivers the first step is a WA-compliant shade, then a film whose heat, UV and appearance suit how and where you use the car.
We bring our mobile tinting service to South Perth as part of our car tinting Perth work, fitting the film on your driveway or at the office. For the coolest cabin without going darker, ask about ceramic window film. Neighbouring areas we cover include Applecross, Victoria Park and Belmont.
Swan River Glare and Apartment Parking
Glare off the Swan River is an everyday driving condition in South Perth. A quality automotive film softens bright light through the side and rear glass while keeping a clear, legal view out. It helps most if you park near the open foreshore along Mill Point Road, or in apartment bays that catch strong afternoon light.
How much cooler the cabin feels depends on the film, the existing glass, the vehicle and the shade the law allows. That is why we do not treat the darkest-looking film as the automatic choice for every car.

Ceramic Tint for Premium Interiors
UV is what fades and dries out leather, dashboards and dark interior trim, so it matters most in the European and prestige cars common in South Perth. SunTek CIR blocks over 99% of UV and carries the Skin Cancer Foundation Seal of Recommendation, and Rayno Phantom S9 blocks over 99.99%.
You do not need a metallic film to get premium performance. Both films are nano-ceramic, so keyless entry, phone, GPS and toll tags keep working. Read more about ceramic tint.
Tinting in Your Apartment Garage
Many South Perth cars live in a basement or building garage, which is a good place to tint: out of the wind and dust, with the car able to stay put while the film cures. We need your building's approval to work in the bay, enough room to open every door, and the car free for 1 to 3 hours.
Keep the windows up for 48 hours afterwards. Curing is a little slower out of the sun, so a light haze can take longer to clear, which is normal. Our aftercare guide covers the first week.

VLT and TSER, Explained
Visible light transmission (VLT) is how much visible light gets through the finished window. A lower VLT looks darker, and WA compliance is judged on the glass and film together, not the label on the film. Total solar energy rejection (TSER) is a separate measure: the share of the sun's energy the film keeps out.
The fairest comparison is at the same shade. At 35% VLT, SunTek CIR 35 rejects 52% of solar energy and Rayno Phantom S9-35 rejects 58%. At the darker rear shade, CIR 20 rejects 58% and S9-20 rejects 64%.
Films for South Perth Cars
| Film | VLT | TSER | UV blocked |
|---|---|---|---|
| SunTek CIR 35 | 35% | 52% | over 99% |
| SunTek CIR 20 | 22% | 58% | over 99% |
| Rayno Phantom S9-35 | 35% | 58% | over 99.99% |
| Rayno Phantom S9-20 | 20% | 64% | over 99.99% |
For prestige interiors, UV blocking matters as much as heat. SunTek CIR gives a natural, factory-style finish, and Rayno Phantom S9 rejects more solar energy at each shade, going by the SunTek specifications and Rayno's published figures. Both are non-metallic, so phone, GPS and radio signals are unaffected, and every install carries a lifetime manufacturer warranty against bubbling, peeling, cracking and colour change. Compare ceramic tint with carbon tint if you are weighing up the two.
WA Tint Limits for South Perth Vehicles
Tint rules are set state-wide by the WA Department of Transport in its IB-119D bulletin, so they are the same in South Perth as anywhere in WA:
- Every window forward of the B pillar must measure at least 35% VLT through the glass and film together.
- On passenger vehicles, glass behind the B pillar can go to 20% VLT, only where external mirrors are fitted on each side.
- The windscreen can only take a band across the top, above the wiper sweep and no more than 10% of its area.
- Film reflectance is limited to 10%.
Factory glass already absorbs some light, so we check the finished reading rather than the label on the film. Our guide to the darkest legal tint in WA has the detail.
