Glare on Reid Highway, Tonkin Highway and Alexander Drive
Malaga sits between Reid Highway and Tonkin Highway, with Alexander Drive, Beach Road, Malaga Drive and Hepburn Avenue carrying most local traffic. Driving east or west along Reid Highway puts low sun straight through the side glass in the morning and late afternoon.

WA Tint Rules for Malaga Cars, Utes and Vans
Under the WA Department of Transport's IB-119D bulletin:
- Every window forward of the B pillar must have at least 35% VLT.
- Passenger vehicles may go to a minimum of 20% VLT behind the B pillar, only where ADR14-compliant external mirrors are fitted on each side.
- The windscreen can only take a band across the top, above the wiper sweep, out of the primary vision area and no more than 10% of its area.
- Window film reflectance is limited to 10%.
Vans: where a van is offered by the manufacturer with metal panels behind the B pillar instead of windows, the bulletin allows the glass behind the B pillar to go down to 0% VLT. The front windows still need 35%. Our guide to the darkest legal tint in WA has the detail.
