Car Window Tinting WannerooBeat the Afternoon Sun
Car window tinting in Wanneroo costs $249 to $550 with Protec Glass Tinting, depending on your vehicle size and the film you choose. Removing old tint is roughly $50 to $150 extra. We come to your home or workplace with no call-out fee, and choose between SunTek CIR nano-ceramic and Rayno Phantom S9 nano carbon ceramic film, both with a lifetime manufacturer warranty.
Wanneroo is covered by our car tinting Perth service, and because we offer mobile window tinting, the car stays where it is parked. Most drivers here choose ceramic tint for the heat rejection. Nearby service areas include Wangara, Joondalup and Butler.
West-Facing Driveways and Afternoon Heat
A car parked on a west-facing driveway takes the full afternoon sun through its side glass, and in Wanneroo's newer estates that is a lot of cars. By late afternoon the cabin is far hotter than the air outside, and the dashboard and seats take years of UV.
Window film rejects part of that solar energy before it reaches the cabin. Rayno Phantom S9-20 rejects 64% on the rear glass, and both of our films block over 99% of UV. Read about UV protection for what that means for the interior.

Mobile Tinting at Home or at Work
We do the job at your home or workplace, so there is nowhere to drive to. We arrive with everything needed to check the glass, confirm the plan with you and fit the film on site. It suits sedans, hatchbacks, SUVs, 4WDs, utes and vans alike.
Plenty of Wanneroo driving happens on Wanneroo Road and Joondalup Drive, where low sun through the side glass on the way home is the most common reason people ask us to tint. Most appointments take one to three hours on site, depending on the vehicle and whether old tint has to come off. See how mobile window tinting works.
Preparing Your Driveway or Work Bay
A driveway, carport or work bay works well when there is room to open every door and reach each window, the area is reasonably clean and nothing is blocking access. Shelter helps, because rain, strong wind or dust can affect the job. If the weather turns, a covered spot may be needed.
| Location | What we need | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Driveway or carport | Clear access around the doors and windows | Room to prepare the glass and fit the film safely |
| Work car park | The vehicle free and permission to use the bay | The car can stay put for the whole job |
| Open outdoor area | Suitable weather and a clean space | Less risk of wind, rain or dust under the film |
You can help by clearing personal items out of the door pockets before we arrive.

- Your preferred shade, or whether heat is the main concern

Larger 4WDs and utes have more glass, so they cost more than a small car, but the film and warranty are the same. Pay by cash, credit card or bank transfer once the job is done.

Films for Wanneroo Cars
| Film | VLT | TSER | UV blocked |
|---|---|---|---|
| SunTek CIR 35 | 35% | 52% | over 99% |
| SunTek CIR 20 | 22% | 58% | over 99% |
| Rayno Phantom S9-35 | 35% | 58% | over 99.99% |
| Rayno Phantom S9-20 | 20% | 64% | over 99.99% |
For a car that sits in afternoon sun, heat rejection is the figure to compare. SunTek CIR gives a natural, factory-style finish, and Rayno Phantom S9 rejects more solar energy at each shade, going by the SunTek specifications and Rayno's published figures. Both are non-metallic, so phone, GPS and radio signals are unaffected, and every install carries a lifetime manufacturer warranty against bubbling, peeling, cracking and colour change. Compare ceramic tint with carbon tint if you are weighing up the two.
WA Tint Limits for Wanneroo Vehicles
Tint rules are set state-wide by the WA Department of Transport in its IB-119D bulletin, so they are the same in Wanneroo as anywhere in WA:
- Every window forward of the B pillar must measure at least 35% VLT through the glass and film together.
- On passenger vehicles, glass behind the B pillar can go to 20% VLT, only where external mirrors are fitted on each side.
- The windscreen can only take a band across the top, above the wiper sweep and no more than 10% of its area.
- Film reflectance is limited to 10%.
Quick answer: if you are asking whether you can put dark tint on the front windows in WA, the starting point is a finished reading of at least 35% VLT forward of the B pillar.
Factory glass already absorbs some light, so we check the finished reading rather than the label on the film. Our guide to the darkest legal tint in WA has the detail.
