Why we publish
Almost nobody in the Perth tinting market publishes real prices. You'll find "from $249" on a homepage, or a pricing table that turns out to be generic industry averages rather than what that business actually charges, or a form that promises a quote within 24 hours.
We think that's backwards. Here is what we charge, by film tier and vehicle size. Every price includes coming to you anywhere in the Perth metro area, all side windows and the rear screen, and the warranty for that tier.
What it doesn't include is removing existing film, which is priced separately below because it varies so much by vehicle.
A note on comparing quotes. "From $249" is not a price, it's an opening position: it usually describes two front windows on the smallest car with the cheapest film. When you're comparing us against anyone else, make sure you're comparing the same thing: same number of windows, same film tier, and whether coming to you is included or billed as a call-out on top.

Vehicles listed are examples of each size class, not an exhaustive list. If yours isn't shown, ask. It will fall into one of these. Every figure is a starting price: the final quote is subject to your vehicle's make and model, because glass area and rear-screen curvature vary between models in the same size class.
The variables
The single biggest factor. A full car means both fronts, both rears, any quarter glass and the rear screen. Front windows only is roughly half the job and priced accordingly.
The gap between standard and ceramic is the cost of the film itself, not the labour. Ceramic material costs several times what dyed film does.
A large SUV has more glass, and steeply curved rear screens take significantly longer to heat-shrink correctly. Both push the price up.
$50–$150 extra. Old film that peels cleanly is quick. Film that has baked on and comes off in flakes, especially over rear-screen heating elements, is slow, careful work.
What doesn't change the price is your suburb. There's no travel loading anywhere in the Perth metro area, and no minimum job value: a single rear windscreen in Baldivis is priced the same as a single rear windscreen in Osborne Park.
One thing genuinely worth budgeting for: if the car already has aftermarket film on it, get the removal quoted at the same time rather than as an afterthought. It's the item that most often turns a cheap-looking quote from somewhere else into an expensive one on the day, because the cost only appears once the installer is standing in front of the car.
Because no two jobs are the same size. A seven-seat SUV carries far more glass than a two-door hatch, and steeply curved rear glass takes longer to shape than flat side glass. Film choice, old-tint removal, the number of windows covered, and what a quote quietly excludes all move the total.
Questions about payment, warranty or aftercare are covered in our tinting FAQ.
Most of the gap between two quotes is not margin. It is scope. One includes the rear screen and one does not; one accounts for stripping the failing film already on the car and one discovers it on the day.
What we do not charge: no call-out fee and no suburb loading. The price is the same at your home in Joondalup as at your workplace in Rockingham, and the price quoted is the price paid.

It can be, if cabin heat, glare and long-term appearance matter to you. Nano-ceramic and nano carbon ceramic reject far more heat than basic dyed film and hold their colour instead of purpling. Both films we fit carry a lifetime manufacturer warranty. Whether the upgrade earns its keep depends on your car and how it is used.
The strongest argument is not comfort, it is not paying twice. Cheap dyed film that purples in a few years has to be removed before anything new goes on, and that removal is charged labour. The cheapest quote today can be the more expensive one across the life of the car.
We fit exactly two films: SunTek CIR, a nano-ceramic, and Rayno Phantom S9, a nano carbon ceramic. Both carry a lifetime manufacturer warranty. Which suits you depends on the shade you want, the finished legal VLT on your glass, and how much heat you are trying to keep out. Our ceramic versus carbon guide compares the published figures side by side.
| If your priority is | Ask about |
|---|---|
| Cabin heat | The published TSER at the shade you want, not the category name |
| Long-term appearance | Either film; both are dye-free and warranted for life |
| Staying legal | The finished VLT through your glass, measured, not the film label |
| Lowest upfront cost | Rear-only coverage rather than a cheaper film |
VLT is measured through the glass and film together, never the film alone. In WA the minimum is 35% VLT forward of the “B” pillar and 20% behind it, the latter only where ADR14-compliant external mirrors are fitted on both sides. No film on the windscreen except a band above the wiper sweep, no more than 10% of the windscreen area. Reflectance caps at 10%.
This belongs on a pricing page because the most expensive outcome is a redo. A quote that does not account for the finished VLT on your factory glass can put a film on that fails when measured, and then the job gets paid for twice: once to fit it, once to strip it. The darkest legal tint guide works through the arithmetic.
| Where | Minimum finished VLT |
|---|---|
| Forward of the “B” pillar | 35% |
| Behind the “B” pillar | 20%, with ADR14 mirrors both sides |
| Windscreen | No film, except a band above the wiper sweep |
| Any tinted window | Reflectance 10% maximum |
Check the current requirements with the Western Australian Department of Transport before booking, particularly if the car has modified glass, aftermarket mirrors or previous tinting.
Yes. Removal is labour, and it is priced separately from fitting new film. Degraded dyed film is the worst case: the adhesive has failed, so it lifts in flakes rather than sheets, and every window needs scraping and cleaning before anything new goes on. Ask for removal to be quoted up front rather than discovered on the day.
Old film goes brittle and purple as the dye breaks down, and the adhesive underneath goes with it. Curved rear screens are slowest, because the demister lines sit under the film and cannot be scraped over.
The complete price is explained before work starts. No call-out fee, no suburb loading, and the price quoted is the price paid.
No surprises
The thing that catches people out when they book mobile tinting elsewhere doesn't apply here.
Want to protect the paint as well as the glass? We also fit paint protection film and nano-ceramic coating, quoted separately from your tint.
There's no call-out fee. Coming to you is the service, not a surcharge on it. Metro Perth is covered by the prices on this page.

Every install comes with a lifetime manufacturer warranty on the film, whether you choose SunTek CIR or Rayno Phantom S9. It is part of every price on this page, not an add-on.
The warranty covers:
How to claim: if you notice a problem with your film, call us on 08 9244 3758, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, and we will take it from there.
For more detail, see the warranty questions in our FAQ.
Mobile tinting prices at Protec include the film, travel within the Perth metro, full glass preparation, professional installation, a WA compliance check, and the lifetime manufacturer warranty. No separate call-out fee is charged for mobile service inside the metro area.
Old film removal is the main item quoted separately, since stripping baked-on adhesive without damaging rear demister lines takes considerable extra labour.
Individual windows in Perth typically cost $40 to $80 each, but full-car packages deliver far better value at $249 to $550. Tinting windows one at a time costs more per window because setup, glass preparation and travel are repeated rather than shared across a single booking.
Single-window pricing mainly suits replacement work, such as retinting one door after glass repair. Whole-vehicle bookings spread the fixed costs across every panel.
To get the best deals on window tinting, start by collecting quotes from various reputable services. This way, you can compare prices and find a service that fits your budget. When evaluating different options, make sure to consider the warranty coverage offered for comprehensive protection.
It’s also essential to familiarise yourself with local regulations regarding visible light transmission (VLT) as this can impact your choices and costs. Finally, investing in high-quality tints might seem pricey upfront but will lead to long-term savings through reduced reliance on air conditioning.
By obtaining multiple quotes, reviewing warranties, considering VLT regulations, and prioritising quality, you’re well-equipped to secure an excellent deal for your window tinting needs!
Before you decide to undertake DIY window tinting, it’s crucial to weigh the advantages and disadvantages. DIY car window tinting kits can be quite affordable, starting at around $75.
However, many attempts don’t end up with satisfactory results and may lead to issues like poor visibility or air bubbles.
It’s important to keep in mind that professional tinting typically provides faster and better-looking outcomes. Poorly done DIY tint jobs can result in a distracting driving experience due to flawed visibility or peeling of the tint.
While opting for a more cost-effective approach is tempting, it’s important to consider potential drawbacks such as reduced visibility, air bubbles, and peeling that could arise from inaccurate application when approaching DIY window tinting.
Professional services generally provide more careful results without these complications.
By considering factors like efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and visual appeal along with reputable companies offering expert assistance in using top-quality materials; we are able to explore whether undertaking do-it-yourself (DIY) is truly crafted to improve your vehicle while delivering long-term benefits for your comfort and safety during travel.
Straight answers
No. Not anywhere in the Perth metro area. The price on this page is the price you pay. If you're well outside the metro area we'll agree any travel cost with you before booking, never after.
Because hiding them wastes everybody's time. Most Perth tinters put pricing behind a booking form or quote a vague “from $249”, which means you can't compare anything without three phone calls.
Our prices are on the page. If they're outside your budget you'll know in ten seconds rather than after a callback.
Not the film price, no. But factory privacy glass affects which shade you can legally add, because the law measures the combined result of the glass and the film together. We check this before quoting so you don't end up with a legal problem.
Roughly $50–$150 depending on the vehicle and the state of the old film. Rear windscreens cost more because the heating elements have to be protected, and badly degraded film that comes off in flakes takes considerably longer than film that peels cleanly.
Sometimes. A cheap job on quality film by a careful installer is fine. A cheap job on generic dyed film is a false economy: it goes purple, it bubbles at the edges, and removing it costs more than the difference you saved.
The two questions that separate the two: which film brand and tier is it, and what does the warranty actually cover? A quote that can't answer both is the one to walk away from.
Typically $249 to $550, from $249. That is a guide, not a quote: the final figure depends on your vehicle's make and model, the number of windows, the glass shape, the film you choose and whether old tint needs removing.
The vehicle make and model, every window being covered, the film by name, and whether old-tint removal is included. It should also be clear about mobile fitting, rear-screen work and any extra charges. We add no call-out fee and no suburb loading, and the quoted price is the price paid.
Not with us. No call-out fee, no suburb loading, and the same price whether we come to your home or your workplace anywhere in Perth metro.
Because removal is labour before the real job starts. Degraded dyed film flakes rather than peeling, so every window needs scraping and cleaning, and curved rear screens with demister lines underneath take the longest.
Yes. SunTek CIR and Rayno Phantom S9 both carry a lifetime manufacturer warranty. Ask for the applicable terms when you get your quote.
Ceramic films cost more because they reject substantially more infrared heat. Rayno Phantom S9 rejects 91 to 93% of infrared energy and up to 64% of total solar energy, while dyed films offer no meaningful infrared rejection and fade over time.
Ceramic construction is non-metallic, so it delivers that heat rejection without interfering with GPS or mobile signal. The film is also colour stable, which is why it carries a lifetime warranty where dyed film cannot.
A full car tint typically takes two to three hours depending on vehicle size and glass complexity. Because the service is mobile, that work happens at your home or workplace rather than requiring a workshop drop-off and return trip.
Larger vehicles and cars with heavily curved glass need longer, as the film must be heat-shrunk to shape before application.
Windows should stay up for at least 48 hours after installation to let the adhesive cure. Some haze or small water pockets during the first days is normal drying moisture and clears on its own as the film fully bonds to the glass.
Curing time extends slightly in cooler, overcast weather. The film reaches full clarity once all trapped moisture evaporates.
No. SunTek CIR™ and Rayno Phantom S9 are both non-metallic nano-ceramic films, so they do not interfere with GPS, mobile reception, dashcams or toll transponders. Only older metallic films caused signal problems, and those are not used in these installations.
Metallic film reflects signal because of its metal particle layer. Ceramic technology achieves heat rejection without any metal content.
