Car Window Tinting DianellaHilltop Streets, Afternoon Sun
Protec Glass Tinting charges $249 to $550 for car window tinting in Dianella, fitted at your home or workplace with a $0 call-out fee. Taking off old tint first adds about $50 to $150. The final price depends on the vehicle, how many windows you want done, and whether you choose SunTek CIR or Rayno Phantom S9.
We have tinted cars across Perth since 1994. Before we start, we talk through your vehicle, its glass and the WA visibility rules, then recommend a film and shade that suit.
We fit film on driveways and office carparks in Dianella as part of our mobile car tinting Perth service. For the coolest cabin without going darker, ask about ceramic window film, and read how our mobile service works before you book. Neighbouring areas we cover include Morley, Malaga, Osborne Park and Balcatta. Compare our window tint films before you book.
Glare on Alexander Drive and Grand Promenade
Dianella's main roads run north to south, so the low sun comes across the car on the morning and afternoon commute. On Dianella's higher streets, the sun also comes in flat and bright late in the day.
Film on the side and rear glass softens that light and cuts the heat that comes with it. The front windows stay at 35% or lighter by law, so tint is a help, not a replacement for sunglasses and a clean windscreen. Read how tinting helps reduce glare.

Family Cars and the Back Seat
Dianella is mostly family homes, and the back seat is where children and passengers sit with the sun on them for the whole trip. Rear glass can legally go darker than the front, to 20% VLT on passenger vehicles with mirrors on each side.
Both of our films block over 99% of UV, so the protection is the same whichever shade you choose. Going darker at the back adds privacy and comfort, not more UV blocking. If you are not sure how dark to go, we will show you samples on the glass before we fit anything.

Films for Dianella Cars
| Film | VLT | TSER | UV blocked |
|---|---|---|---|
| SunTek CIR 35 | 35% | 52% | over 99% |
| SunTek CIR 20 | 22% | 58% | over 99% |
| Rayno Phantom S9-35 | 35% | 58% | over 99.99% |
| Rayno Phantom S9-20 | 20% | 64% | over 99.99% |
Most Dianella drivers choose SunTek CIR for its natural look, or Rayno Phantom S9 if the car is parked outside. SunTek CIR gives a natural, factory-style finish, and Rayno Phantom S9 rejects more solar energy at each shade, going by the SunTek specifications and Rayno's published figures. Both are non-metallic, so phone, GPS and radio signals are unaffected, and every install carries a lifetime manufacturer warranty against bubbling, peeling, cracking and colour change. Compare the films on our ceramic tint Perth and carbon tint pages if you are weighing up the two.
What to Prioritise When Choosing Tint
- Heat rejection for a car parked on the street or the driveway
- Glare control for the north-south commute
- UV filtering for children and passengers in the back
- A legal finished reading on every window
- A finish that suits the car, from factory look to darker rear glass
VLT is the visible light that gets through the glass and film together, and TSER is the total solar energy rejected. A darker film is not automatically the cooler one, so compare both numbers.
WA Tint Limits for Dianella Vehicles
Tint rules are set state-wide by the WA Department of Transport in its IB-119D bulletin, so they are the same in Dianella as anywhere in WA:
- Every window forward of the B pillar must measure at least 35% VLT through the glass and film together.
- On passenger vehicles, glass behind the B pillar can go to 20% VLT, only where external mirrors are fitted on each side.
- The windscreen can only take a band across the top, above the wiper sweep and no more than 10% of its area.
- Film reflectance is limited to 10%.
Factory glass already absorbs some light, so we check the finished reading rather than the label on the film. Our guide to the darkest legal tint in WA has the detail.
